Knik River View

Knik River View

Birthed from the Knik Glacier in the Matanuska-Susitna Borough, the 25-mile long Knik River is characterized by a broad flat plain with a bed of finely ground gravel and sand and silt. Derived from the Inupiaq word for fire, Igniq, “Knik” is present in the names of the river, the arm of Cook Inlet, the glacier, and the surrounding communities of Knik-Fairview and Knik River.
